Jan. 13th, 2022 03:22 amToday I am grateful for:
This nicer weather.
I had an actual riding lesson today! First one in about a month, I think. R took time off for the holiday, and then it was just brutally cold.
We had a good lesson. First we did some review to see where we were at, and then got new homework for groundwork, as well as for under saddle.
Then I came home and had a nap.
I watched "Edge of Tomorrow", which is a really good movie. I've watched it before, but I think I slept through parts of it. I got a better understanding of it this time.
Interesting thing I learned: That only animals with specialized fore limbs like primates and bats have collar bones. They spread the shoulders apart and support the joints. You look at a horse or a dog, and the shoulders are folded down at their sides, not like us with wide shoulder and the blades on the back. Birds have a modified collar bone, the wish bone.
Apes and monkeys have eyes on the front of their skulls, but are not predators. That kind of vision is needed for navigating through trees. We are primates as well. I keep hearing the argument for us eating meat "we have predator eyes", but maybe we have "vision for navigating through trees" eyes.
