Today I am grateful for:

Another pleasant day for January.

I took the blankets back off the mares, since the threat of freezing rain is past for the moment. I will likely have to put them back on in a few days, but it is pretty comfortable weather right now.

We had a nice, relaxed day in the city with no real agenda besides a change of scenery.

I went to the fancy bead store, then we went to what used to be Ten Thousand Villages to get fair trade coffee, then the book store. The kitty in the book store greeted us, which is nice because usually she is kind of shy.

We got a pita at an odd little place. If nothing else it was a little different.

We came home and watched "Jungle Cruise", which was pretty Disney but okay.

Interesting thing I learned today: Thomas Edison tried to build a phone to communicate with ghosts. From Wikipedia: In 1920, Edison spoke to American Magazine, saying that he had been working on a device for some time to see if it was possible to communicate with the dead.[107][108] Edison said the device would work on scientific principles not by an occult means.[107] The announcement caused a press heyday,[108][107] though the actual nature of this invention remained a mystery, as there were no details for some time. Until In 2015, Philippe Baudouin, a French journalist, found a copy of Edison's Diary in a thrift store with an chapter not found in the previously published additions. The new chapter details Edison's theories of the afterlife and the scientific basis by which communication with them might be achieved.[107]
