Jan. 30th, 2022 03:45 amToday I am grateful for:
More beautiful weather.
We went to town today, and went furniture shopping because my beloved papasan chair is coming apart. The bamboo is splitting in several places, beyond repair. Our goal was to find a leather chair (my ethics would rather have fabric, but I am realistic about how long fabric would last with 5 cats in the house) that is over-sized yet would fit in the preferred space. We looked at a few places in town (I wanted to support local if possible) and we found something that should do just fine on clearance. We are going to pick it up ourselves the next time my sweetie is home to save the delivery cost.
I'm glad it was that straightforward.
Then we picked up some groceries, and I am always grateful for the ability to buy food and get it home etc.
Then we went to the pottery studio, since there are a few "open" days that anyone can come and work (other days are reserved for classes). It was nice to have the place to ourselves, and it is now more comfortable to be there. At first it felt very strange to be working in a new studio, with everything in new places and new procedures.
I mostly trimmed up a few pieces I had thrown last class, and my sweetie put handles on two cups he made at Christmas time, and he messed around on the wheel but didn't keep anything.
We came home and watched more of "The Wheel of Time".
Today I learned that all of China has only one timezone, as a matter of efficiency dictated by Chairman Mao Zedung in 1949, called Beijing Standard Time. Before that, China used the standard way of setting time zones, and had five recognized time zones. So that means that people in parts of China might see a lot more daylight than others.
