Sunday, January 30
Jan. 31st, 2022 12:26 amToday I am grateful for:
Another very nice day weather wise. It's supposed to get cold tomorrow, so I will enjoy today.
We went to see River again, and some people are around. The other rider that's usually there on Sunday said "Hi, just getting over Covid, so I'm wearing my mask"', and you can bet we wore ours and kept our distance. I don't know the timeline for her illness, so I'm hoping that means she was past the part where she might be contagious? I haven't seen her all week, and I don't remember if she was at the barn last Sunday. I guess if she was, if I was going to get sick from that encounter I would have noticed something by now. We do normally stay quite a distance apart and the barn and arena are well-ventilated. There have been several people from the barn who have now had Covid, though they stayed home.
Edit: I looked back in my entries, and the other rider wasn't there last Sunday.
Anyhow. I had a good session with River, but there are one or two things that he always seems stuck on. One is smoothly side-passing on the ground (he is slow, and keeps halting after one or two steps over), the other is backing up straight on the ground (he always swerves his hind end out). I try to be patient and keep working with him on these things, but I wonder why, after working a lot on them this last year or so, they are still issues for him. I have brought the backing issue up with R recently, and she says to keep backing while he's against the wall on one side, but he will then back up fine, and still back up crooked if we're out in the middle.
Other than that, he did really well, and I made sure to give him lots of praise and breaks for his efforts.
We came home and made supper, and watched one more episode of "The Wheel of Time".
Interesting thing I learned today: This map. Note that it says public employee, so I'm not entirely sure what that encompasses. More than teachers, police, city employees?
