Today I am grateful for:

Continued beautiful weather.

I had a good phone conversation with my sister E. She and her husband recently replaced a big chair in their living room, and it's a fun coincidence that we are as well. She too, was shocked at the price tags on new furniture.

I went to see River, and today he was sleepy and in la-la land the whole time. I guess that's better than focusing his attention on what is going on outside the arena. We had a decent session together, he was pokey, but reasonably willing to engage. I found it relaxing to be with him when he was in such a sleepy state.

I didn't do much when I came home. I was tired because the alarm that tells you that the septic tank level is too high went off early in the day (for me) and ruined my sleep. You have to go outside, dig all the snow away from the heavy lid covering the shaft that is the holding tank, and adjust the pump a little. the pump is suspended on a rope, and sits on the bottom of the tank. If it drifts against the wall of the tank the float (think toilet tank) doesn't engage the pump and the tank fills up. The alarm goes off if it gets above a certain point. If it doesn't, the sewer backs up into the house. SO, all I usually have to do is jiggle the rope and move the pump away from the wall of the holding tank, the float frees up, the pump engages, and the contents of the holding tank pump out into the septic field buried under ground.

Today I learned that North Korea is so oppressive, that smuggling in makeup (because it is part of free cultures in other parts of the world) is a bad enough offense that you can be executed for it.
