Today I am grateful for:

Continued warm weather. Snow is melting, and everything is icy or mushy.

My sweetie came home from work this evening. He had a rock smash the rear passenger window as he was driving home on the highway. I'm glad he didn't panic and held his lane. I am also glad it wasn't the driver's window, and that it was fairly warm. If he had to drive home without a window in -30C it would have been terrible. Bad enough as it is. It will take a few weeks before he can get a new window put in, so he may end up having to go back to work without a proper window.

I did some useful things, like changed the sheets and did the dishes.

We managed to prime both rooms on the main floor of the addition. I still need to go into the corners with a brush, but we did most of it using a roller. We kind of took turns painting for a section, and cheered each other on.

I learned a little bit about the Mascarene Islands, East of Madagascar. The three main islands are Mauritius, Rodrigues, and Reunion. Mauritius was the home of the now-extinct flightless bird known as the Dodo. Apparently there were many species of flightless birds on these islands; a type of ibis, a type of parrot, the Dodo was a type of pigeon, and many others that are now extinct. There were also tortoises that are now extinct. They were lost when settlers came in the 17th century and cleared the land for agriculture, as well as eating them (in the case of the Dodo).
