Today I am grateful for:

That I was able to go to town today, even though I'm not sure if I accomplished anything there. It snowed a lot in the last couple of days, and a big dump last night. The snow plow cleared the road out to the highway, and I felt like if I wanted to go to town I should do it, because who knows if the snow will blow in and block the road tomorrow. I was supposed to go see River, but I suspect that the road by the riding barn likely didn't get cleared yet.

As you know, Brownie is shedding abnormally and might be cold if I can't figure out a blanket for her. I went to town on the premise that one store I talked to on the phone said they had a very large dog blanket for sale. I went to look at this blanket, and it is actually more like a size that would fit the smaller of my two ponies. It literally looks like a horse blanket. I would love to see the dog they imagined it would fit. I decided to get it anyhow, because if it does work on my pony, then it might be useful. If not, maybe I can cut it down for the goat? It was on clearance, so I wouldn't be out much if it didn't work. I also got a different clearance dog jacket that will work for Roxy. She doesn't have one that fits right now.

I also went to the video store, and found some things to watch. I am grateful we still have one, as that is about the only way I could watch new movies. I try to support them, because we don't have good enough internet to get online services, and you know what? I'm not too sure how good a value those are anymore now that they are all splitting off into different groups. I would have to have three subscriptions to watch most of the new releases I am interested in. They also don't keep everything available forever. I like the idea of once you buy it, you have it on hand.

It was strange to go into stores and no one is wearing masks now. The mandates were dropped at the end of February. Basically everyone is sick of isolation, and everyone kept bitching and complaining to the government that they wanted to be done now, and after the convoys I got the feeling that the government was tired of fighting with everyone.

What makes no sense to me, is that there are STILL high numbers of people in ICU. They were saying Omicron was a lot less dangerous, but we still have as many people in the hospital on ventilators. People are still dying. In fact, our numbers have been going up and up and up since the mandates were lifted only a few days ago. Most of the people in ICU are un-vaccinated people. We are still right in the middle of another wave, but because everyone has shown that they are tired of mandates like wearing a mask in public, we aren't going to bother anymore.

Edit: I went and checked, and the numbers are actually down a fair bit since the last big spike, but to me the numbers are still pretty high. Way higher than when we first started isolating and wearing masks.

So, imagine that. We can't make it stop by just saying "we are ready for it to be done now. If we all agree that it's done and act like it's done, it'll be done, right?".

I didn't do much when I got home, just napped mostly. I've been feeling kind of burned out.

I did read for a while, and I'm glad I used LitCharts to figure out who was who and what was happening, because I actually understood what happened in the part I read tonight!

Today I learned that the reason your fingers feel slimy if you are washing something with water and a bit of bleach, is because the bleach interacts with the oil and cells of your skin to make a layer of soap.
