Today I am grateful for:

Reasonably nice weather. Intermittent sunshine.

I went to see River today, and we had a lesson. Not much for "learning", we mostly worked with him with the bit R hoped would help, to see if his mouth was more quiet. It was not much better, but we are going to try it for a week to see if some of his mouth activity was from habit, and maybe if he gets time with the other bit he will realize it bothers him less? Anyhow, we will try a few things to see what helps. I just don't want to have to buy a whole bunch of bits just to find out none of them are any better.

I did some painting last night, and am pretty happy with the results.

I napped. I've been napping a lot lately, even though I feel like I have been getting reasonable nights' sleep.

I learned that Queen ants (in many species) can live from 15-30 years! That is CRAZY! The female workers can live a few years, and the males only live a few weeks. I'm sure it varies from one kind of ant to another, but generally speaking the Queen can live a very long time.

I can try to get one on here. It seems to be impossible to load an image from my phone. I will need to get it onto the computer first.

I usually give horses 5-6 tries in a bit or bitless option before making a final decision unless it is VERY obvious they love/hate it. Does R have a "bit bank" you can borrow from at least? It sounds like you're using one of hers now. I've collected so many bits, there are literal buckets of them in sizes ranging from 3.5" (mini!) to 6.5".

She naturally has quite a few bits, but only this one is what she thought might help, and it is quite specialized. A lot of hers are not that different from the one I am currently using, or ones that she is pretty sure won't be good (he hated the one bit she tried him on that had a port, so that rules out several), and we're not looking at anything with leverage. Others that she has are thicker bits, which we have already ruled out as well.

I know that most horse people after a while end up with quite a collection!
