Apr. 10th, 2022 01:31 amToday I am grateful for:
Um, that the wind wasn't worse? It was super duper windy today.
OF COURSE we wanted to take things to the dump today, like recyclables (cardboard). That got a little gnarly.
This morning the contractor came by with the stairs, and they got installed. OF COURSE there is still no hand rail yet. Oh well. At least there are stairs. They look well made and best of all, my Sweetie is happy with the work, and is okay with hiring this person to do some MORE work!
We went to the Re-Store to pick up the doors we bought last time my Sweetie was home (we didn't have the truck when we bought them).
We got the special cat food for Jones, which we have to buy at the vet's.
I went to the movie store and got some new to me DVDs, and found Season four of Sherlock, which I haven't seen yet. I am very grateful for this store.
We went to the pottery studio (a "free day" that isn't a class), and it was just us. We got a lot done. First we reclaimed a whole bunch of clay that we've had forever. It dried out and needed all kinds of soaking and reconditioning; I've been working on that for a while. Today we worked it to even out the texture and get it into shape for throwing.
My goal for this clay was to make some plant pots, and I made some today (though they are nowhere near done, just the shape).
My Sweetie threw a couple of things too.
The clean up felt brutal today because I was working with red clay. This stuff is just...sticky? It just gets all over everything, and seems a lot harder to wash off of all the tools and the wheel than regular white clay.
We got some groceries too. I am always grateful for that.
We came home and made some supper and watched the first episode of Sherlock season 4.
Today I learned that the Sherpa people are literally just genetically better at using oxygen. People from this tribe are known for guiding people to summit Mount Everest, and mountaineering in general.
From Wikipedia:
A 2010 study identified more than 30 genetic factors that make Tibetans' bodies well-suited for high altitudes, including EPAS1, referred to as the "super-athlete gene" that regulates the body's production of hemoglobin,[8] allowing for greater efficiency in the use of oxygen.[9][10]
