Today I am grateful for:

Tolerable weather. Chilly again, but not awful.

I got a few things done today. More laundry. Cat litter. Took some cans to our shed to await recycling. I picked pony poop.

I decided to start cleaning up the hedge again this year. If I do it every year maybe one year it won't be an awful task. Not as much dead stuff as last year, and cutting out some of bigger, older limbs. Cutting down taller stuff, though I am not trying to achieve a flat top.

Then I came in, and put some time using the heat gun to strip old paint from one of the original doors. Though it was in a big, open space, I feel like I should probably be doing this outside or something.

I learned that so far, Brookesia nana is thought to be the world's smallest reptile. It is a type of chameleon, though it does not change color, and it is found in Madagascar.

Stripping paint indoors always produces the kind of smell that makes one wish for fresh air. If the paint comes off cleanly, it's not so bad. The worst is the old oil-based paint that looks like melted gum and has a fearsome odour.

Any paint used before 1978 -1980 is suspect when it comes to lead. I assume everything here is poisonous!

I have to have a professional come in and check an old insulted door for asbestos, too.
