Today I am grateful for:

Very nice weather today.

I went to see River, and he did really well on our ground work and Liberty.

R's teen-aged daughter and I went for a ride on the property. It's not a huge place, but it has a short trail through the bush that's fun.

The girl with some health challenges came today, and she gave me a hug, which was cool. I don't speak ASL, so I'm not sure how to communicate much with her (we do a lot of waving and thumb's up, and we high five when we pass each other on horse back), but I do my best to interact with her.

Today I learned about the Experimental Lakes Area in Ontario. It is a region of 58 formerly pristine lakes that actually get polluted on purpose in order to study how it affects the ecology of the lake. Wow.

The area is currently being managed by the International Institute for Sustainable Development, who continues to study the effects of pollutants. Newer research includes the effects of oil spills on freshwater ecosystems, micro-plastics, Nano-silver (because of all that shit like Norwex that uses silver as an antibacterial cleaning agent on their cloths), and anti depressants (as in, people taking huge amounts of drugs that aren't getting removed from water before entering lakes and streams etc).

It really sucks that they have to use real lakes to do studies like these.
