Today I am grateful for:

Very lovely weather today. Warm and sunny.

I was able to get Fatty to the vet for routine blood work without rushing. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis a few years ago, and has been on Prednisolone for controlling his immune system. The blood work is to make sure everything is working okay, so that he can keep taking it. I am relieved that it came back with everything normal. The vet does want him to get some dental work done, but that will have to be in a few weeks.

I was able to get groceries super fast while Fatty was at the clinic (they apparently don't have the owner in the examination room right now?), which was GREAT because I didn't get groceries this week when I was at pottery, like I usually do.

It was a very fast run through the store, but I got enough to keep me going until I have more time. As always, I am grateful for being able to get groceries.

I managed to look at two yard sales, and there wasn't much I was interested in, but I did get some simple picture frames.

I came home and had a big nap.

Then I let everyone out into their pastures for a while. I raked up pony poop since it is finally dry enough to pick it up. Up until recently it was just a pond in that side of their pen.

Today I learned about a book called "Blitzed", written by Norman Ohler. Read the link, it's really interesting. I knew that Hitler was a bit of a hypochondriac, but according to meticulous records kept by his doctors, Hitler was a raging drug addict. Crystal Meth, cocaine, an opiate called Eukodol, steroids, animal hormones, and many many other drugs were routine for Hitler. Daily drug cocktails. That explains a lot, doesn't it?

Crystal Meth was also given to the soldiers, to quell their fear and help them stay awake.

I really want to read this book.

Your daily anecdote have given me an idea for tonight's music selection.

It's good to stock up on groceries. Lately I've noticed I'm not the only customer buying products with ENJOY TONIGHT - 50% OFF stickers.

My thoughts exactly before you said it about Hitler - that explains a lot. Though I suppose it's a mix of his choosing those to feel that way. But yikes. To be inside his mind must have been hellish nightmare enough in how he thought. (Because it made me realize all the horrific experiments and such that happened then, in some warped way must have made sense to his own version of logic.)

YAY for groceries and the run for them while it worked out. win, win!!

and HUGE win for the nap! and a big one at that - bravo. :)

One of the profound and awful versions of one person making a difference.
