May. 26th, 2022 01:06 amToday I am grateful for:
Very nice weather.
The smell of freshly mown grass, and at night the smell of a few drops of rain on the dusty asphalt.
I had another visit with Mom, and showed her a few pictures from our big family gathering and Sister E's place.
I went to my Sister L's house, on a farm a few miles away from town. She and her recently deceased husband have lived here, only a few miles from the family farm where we grew up since I was born. We are about 20 years apart. That's what happens when there are nine kids.
I grew up playing with my sister's kids more like they were siblings.
We had a good visit. So far she is happy to stay there on her own. There is family and neighbors around if she needs anything.
Trainwreck sister also came.
My Sister L showed me around her yard to see what is coming up. Her yard is bordered by mature trees that she and her husband planted over the years. There were almost none when they were first married.
I came back into town, ate, and went to see if my Sister N was up for a visit. Turns out my nephew and his wife were there. They are the couple who hosted our big gathering a few days ago.
It was nice to see them in a less busy environment, because we actually interacted. They were too busy hosting to talk much at the other event.
We walked to the park with the kids, then back at my sister's house we sat around and told family stories and I held/played with the kids. One is six months and the other is a toddler. I have not met them before other than our recent big gathering.
They are both adorable and well-behaved.
It was a lovely serendipity to see them and have a better visit.
Then I walked back to Mom's house, with just a few drops of rain, past the care home where I could see Mom's window.
