Today I am grateful for:

Gorgeous weather.

I got a vet to check out River's breathing, to make sure he wasn't TOO stressed, and to see if there is anything I can do to make this easier for him. Short answer: not really. He is already in the best case scenario as far as being able to be outside on grass pasture 24/7. We will discuss the possibility of an inhalant to make rides easier. Oh well. I thought it was worth a try.

I stayed and worked with him, doing our usual gentle ground work and all of the things we can do at a walk so we don't over-do things.

R was around, so nice talking with her.

While I was with River, my Sweetie and one of his work-exchange friends unloaded the lumber and drywall that he got delivered today. It was a LOT of drywall.

Together we trimmed both of the goats' feet.

Then I planted the second half of the garden, and watered it. I am now mostly done planting. There are things I will tuck in here and there, but the bulk of it is done now. Whew!

Then we watched "Willow". I heard they were making another one, and I have no idea why.

I learned that many people involved in space flight were once Scouts. Of the 312 selected as astronauts, at least 207 have been active in scouting. Of the 24 to travel to the moon, 20 were scouts, including 11 of the 12 moonwalkers, and all three members of the crew of Apollo 13.

I would likely have enjoyed being a Scout as a kid. Not sure if Girl Scouts are the same as Boy Scouts, but I would have enjoyed the camping etc.

You would have made a fabulous scout! Tell me about doing the goats' feet. Are you trimming them like a farrier does horses' hoofs?

It's the same idea. I have a small pair of nippers that are normally used in cutting wire or something, and I just try to take off the excess horn. Their hooves don't get worn down enough on pasture, and if I don't trim them they fold over underneath and trap manure, or they get deformed. I worry a bit that I'm not getting them perfect, but the reality is, there is no one who trims goat's hooves. So, I don't have that option.
