Jun. 20th, 2022 01:51 amToday I am grateful for:
Reasonably nice weather.
I pulled grass here and there, trying to instill in myself the habit of doing some work in the garden daily, but trying not to feel like I have to weed the whole thing all in one go. That is the thinking that always makes me feel overwhelmed. Thinking that I can weed for half an hour and quit is mentally easier.
We went to see River, and that was nice. His breathing wasn't great, but he seemed willing to do groundwork. We went through our paces, and worked on the new goal of a side pass with a different cue. We did do some ridden work, again with the focus on getting him to yield at the poll to the bitless.
There was a bit of rain while we were working, and some thunder, and he was relaxed.
By the time we left the barn and headed home, it started raining again more earnestly.
I let everyone out into their pastures for a while, and I just hung out with the ponies and goats and admired the lovely evening sky with pink clouds.
We worked on getting a door installed in the addition, between what will be the new bedroom and the mudroom. We have it mostly installed, but I am not sure we will use that door after all. It seems warped. It is no big deal to switch it, the work was putting the frame in the wall.
Then we watched an old favorite, "Romancing the Stone".
Today I learned that train wheels are slightly conical, to allow them to stay on the rail when turning, as well as being self-centering. This is because a train axle is solid, and the wheels on a train don't turn like a car wheel does.
