Today I am grateful for:

I did not rain today, and there was a bit of sunshine.

Our area is apparently very close to breaking a record for precipitation in the month of June, that was set in the 1960's.

I pulled some weeds out of the garden, and they at least come out easily because of the rain. That was nice.

I finally had a phone conversation with Trainwreck that wasn't just a horrible connection that was just her talking about something very negative for five minutes before saying she had to go. We actually had a proper conversation with some positive content, and both of us got to speak.

I mentioned what I saw when I visited sister E, about her not seeming to really be processing her husband's illness. Given that her husband seems to refuse to eat better even though he has very bad diabetes, I said that E needs to really be ready for changes, like him maybe not being around in a few years. Trainwreck lost her partner about a year and a half ago, and knows all about needing to be prepared mentally for the changes of such a loss. She said she would kind of feel things out with E, to see if she is maybe in denial of what is happening.

I am glad that she is willing to give that a try. I am a little worried that E is not realizing how serious things are, and that it is likely time to make plans.

I went to see River, and that was nice. His breathing was good today. It is better during/after rain, and when it is cooler.

We worked on our usual work, and he was doing better today at walking with purpose, likely because he could breathe. Our ridden work was good, as always working on softening at the poll and good transitions. We did some work with just the neck rope too, and he did a lot better at a clean halt and backing.

The rider with some challenges came for her lesson, and I rode with them, as well as R's teen daughter L. L and I talked about our favorite shows, some of which she is no longer allowed to watch because her Mom (R) saw how much sex there was in them. She's not wrong. The Witcher has a LOT of sex in it. We did all agree that Geralt is pretty hot. That is probably very nearly universal.

L also sews, and is interested in making fantasy style clothes, which is very cool.

I came home and pulled MORE weeds, as well as letting everyone out into the pastures for a while.

Today I learned about Setenil de las Bodegas, a small town of about 3000 residents, in the Cadiz region of Spain. It is built inside a gorge, and the buildings are kind of fitted right underneath rock overhangs, and partly built into existing caves.

It was at one time occupied by Rome, and archaeologists have evidence that this area has been constantly occupied for about 25,000 years.

The pictures of the houses make it look so amazing and kind of primitive.

As long as it's stable, it would be nice to have a cottage or a shop cut into a mountainside like that.

You have incessant rain, and we've had a monthlong drought. I have no idea what the next two months will bring.
