Jun. 29th, 2022 11:12 pmToday I am grateful for:
A reasonably nice day. We are still getting a bit of rain, and clouds, but there is sometimes sunny moments.
I managed to get the load of rubbish in the truck to the dump today. I also took the egg cartons we save (many people here have small flocks, and will re-use egg cartons if they are clean) with me to give to the girls that work at the dump. They will then pass them on to people with laying hens. I had a whole garbage bag full this time.
I found a nice wooden chair at the dump, set to one side for anyone to take.
I was distressed to see how much crap was in the burn pit. The burn pit is meant for burning clean wood, like old fences and branches, but everyone seems to throw all kinds of garbage in there that shouldn't be burned. Old sofas and kid's toys. It is just lazy people who can't be bothered to drive over to the big bins where they should put general garbage.
The people that work there are SUPPOSED to be watching, and to tell people that they can't throw it in there, but they don't.
I went to see River, and we had a lesson today. It went well. I have new homework for our ground work/liberty, and a bit more for our ridden work. He was a little sleepy, but willing to give to the asks, and soft for the bitless.
Then I came home, and let everyone out for a while, and I mowed for about an hour. I have caught up now on most of the yard, except the parts that have standing water in them.
I leaned that Sigmund Freud lived as a tenant in his Vienna apartment for 47 years with his wife, 6 children, and sister in law from 1891 to 1938. It was transformed into the Freud Museum in 1971. He had to leave when Nazis invaded, and he was at great risk because he was Jewish. He spent the last years of his life in Britain.
