Today I am grateful for:

A warm, sunny day with no rain. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, maybe I can mow a bit more of the yard.

I tried Wim Hof's beginner breathing technique, and man, that is a weird feeling. I guess you are almost hyper-ventilating? Still, that dude might be onto something. He is able to do some amazing climbs, and he promotes the breathing as being good for dealing with stress/anxiety etc.

I went to see River, and while I still wanted to work on the same obstacles, I wanted to be less "big energy" about it from my end.

He did a little better at Liberty on those two obstacles, so I didn't push him any further on them. I gave him big rewards for his tries, and when he did okay, we moved on.

I rode for a while bareback with just the neck rope, since we were in the indoor arena and he was chill. I worked on getting nicer circles and backing. Then we worked a little bit bareback with the bitless to get some collection.

I think I did better today with finding that balance between asking and reward.

I talked to one of our hay guys, and he is planning on baling squares this week. This won't be all we need for the winter, but if we can get 100 squares it will help. We will have to go pick them out of the field for the better price. I usually get a mix of squares and rounds.

I came home and let everyone out for a while.

I learned that the only natural forest in Greenland is in Qinngua Valley in southern Greenland, only 9 miles long. The surrounding local geography protects the valley floor just enough to support the tree growth despite the sub-Arctic climate. Most of Iceland is tundra, like the Arctic North in Canada.

Have you ever been to the arctic part of Canada? I've never been north of the US and have kind of a fascination with very cold climates and the animals and plants that can survive them.

Karen Rohlf did an interesting podcast this past month in "Love it or Change it." You might enjoy it.
