Jul. 15th, 2022 12:47 amToday I am grateful for:
Warm and sunny. We were supposed to have rain yesterday or today, and did not after all.
Getting some household things done before going to town. I changed the sheets and threw the dirty ones in the washing machine right away. I did dishes. I hastily vacuumed an area rug, and did a bit of cleaning in the fridge (just tossing a few things and getting rid of several bread bags with a tiny piece of bread left in each one).
I went to town, and planned to meet up with my Sweetie on his way back from his work location (this town is on that route).
We met up with a woman from Buy and Sell; I bought a drum from her and it is very nice.
We went to the thrift store together, a very quick trip. I found some more nice belts, and some DVDs.
We went to "Love and Thunder" in the theater, and it was very good. Lots of fun. I thought the screaming goats were both hilarious, and accurate.
Then we got groceries, and I am very grateful for getting food.
We came home, and let the animals out into their pastures.
I frantically pulled weeds in the garden while literally almost feeling the sensation of my blood being drained by the multitude of mosquitoes. The garden has really gotten overgrown this week, in spite of me pulling weeds fairly regularly. We are getting some radishes and the lettuce is now big enough to start picking it.
Today I learned about the Mandela Effect, a phenomenon where large numbers of people can all share the same false memory. It is named for the first recognized mass false memory: that large numbers of people falsely "remember" that Nelson Mandela died in prison in the 1980's, when in fact, he did not die until 2013, after serving as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.
Examples of known Mandela Effects: That many people recall that it is "The Berenstein Bears" (no, it is actually "The Berenstain Bears").
That there used to be a brand of peanut butter called "Jiffy" (nope, it was "Jif").
That it was spelled "Looney Toons" (nope, "Looney Tunes").
That the monkey from Curious George had a tail (no, he did not).
People seem to remember that in a portrait, King Henry VIII is holding a turkey leg in one hand. He did not have anything in his hand.
That the Monopoly Man with the banker's suit wears a monocle. He never did.
