Today I am grateful for:

A gorgeous sunny day.

The goat/pony pen is drying out now.

I had a good lesson with River today. We did the video-ing for the virtual show. We got one video that I feel is okay. Mostly we were shaky on one obstacle, one of the ones that has been harder for us all along. The others were decent.

I really need to keep in mind that we have only been working on the obstacles at Liberty for a few weeks. The biggest thing, is that River stayed with me through it. At Liberty, if your horse gets upset, they can just leave, so you really have to work on the partnership. After all, I am asking for hard things, and he is doing a decent job of responding. That is what I need to see as success for today.

Getting a decent video took most of the lesson time, so we wanted to do something nice for River, and used the last few minutes to give him a therapy session, using a thing called Surefoot pads. Basically they are foam pads that engage a lot of small muscles for balance, and can stretch and shift others. He really seemed to enjoy himself.

R was saying that a lot of the horses have been very stiff/sore lately (River was very tight last night when I rode), likely because they have not been sleeping a lot and stomping to try to get rid of mosquitoes.

I came home, let everyone out for a while, and mowed a ton again while it was a little cooler.

I watched some more of "They Boys", and worked on a big acrylic painting that I've been working on for a few days.

I learned that people who grew up in the era of black and white movies mostly reported dreaming in black and white, while the people before and after them reported dreaming in color.

I had to look up the sure pads. Do they feel good to the horses?

I was shocked when I read that you were mowing. But only because mowing would be pretty dangerous here at the moment. We've been at or above 100 F for the last 2-3 weeks, and it doesn't look like there will be any relief until my magic date of October 15 (the date when fall starts here, according to me!).

I'm glad you have more moderate temps up there! After getting through your intense winters, you deserve some good weather!
