Today I am grateful for:

More hot weather. A little too hot, but nice to feel the sun.

The contractor came bright and early, and I basically got no sleep. Oh well. Not much I can do, it's not like he's going to get anything done if he only comes in the mid afternoon.

I did do some late night cleaning last night, because he needed to go through the house to take measurements. I ended up doing quite a lot of cleaning. So, it's still cluttered, but not dirty looking.

He got a good start on the walls for the rooms downstairs. He had to do some work with the floor joists and support poles, which is surprising. I thought my husband and his friends had done their homework with the joists, but it appears there are some areas of concern that must be addressed. Maybe a very good thing to have another set of eyes.

Then he came upstairs when I was ready, and we walked through the house together to measure all the windows for replacements, and talked about a few different areas of interest for the future.

He is planning to order the new windows on Monday, and then come back to the house to keep going with the rooms down stairs. He is bringing more lumber (I thought my husband had bought enough to finish, but even he says there wasn't enough for the entire job).

This contractor was respectful of my opinion, and did a good job of explaining what we are going to do with the windows. It is important to me to be included in the process, and to know what is happening.

I talked briefly with Sister E, but she has not heard yet how my Sister S is doing. Sister S was getting a kidney removed because they found Cancer there. It was Stage 1, so removing the whole kidney would have a good chance of getting it all.

I went to see River, even in this heat. It was nice. He was of course, pretty lethargic. We worked on our groundwork/Liberty and he is getting a lot better on yielding to/away from me (side pass) and on the hind quarters, and starting to back on a voice command.

I did my best to remember what my legs are supposed to be doing to get better circles when riding with the neck rope, and we did better with that today.

I rode in the yard with others for a short time, mainly over to the apple trees to get the horses some treats. They are small apples, and I let River pick one or two himself since he didn't have a bit in his mouth. That was pretty fun.

I came home and did not let the animals out tonight, because Wonder has lost her grazing mask somewhere out in her bigger pasture and I couldn't find it. I will look again tomorrow.

Today I learned about about Bolaji Badejo, a Nigerian graphic designer from Lagos. He is known for his his single acting role, as the titular predatory alien in the science fiction horror film "Alien" (1979). Director Ridley Scott's casting crew found Badejo drinking at a Soho bar, and offered him the role.

He was 6'10" tall.

The contractor work sounds pretty exciting! I would love to see photos when he's got his work done, and I love hearing about the progress.

And I envy you those rides on River!
