Sep. 5th, 2022 10:55 pmToday I am grateful for:
No contractors today, and I slept well. So many dreams!
It rained during the morning, and today was lovely. The rain cleared away the smoke from a distant forest fire (last few days had an overcast sky and smelled of smoke) and it was cooler, and blue sky.
I took a little spin around the horse pasture with Roxy. Lately it has been too hot or otherwise unpleasant (like horrible mosquitoes) to enjoy a pasture walk, but today was perfect for it.
Today was grocery day, so I headed to town.
First I wanted to buy some sealant for the rocks I painted. It keeps the acrylic paint from coming off, and might make them weather proof enough that they would be okay in a garden for a while.
That was at the hardware store. I also found a nice little ficus plant, which I don't see much anymore in stores for sale. It must have become less popular.
I stopped in at the Dollar store for some cheap acrylic paints that I might use for "pours".
Then I got groceries, and this time it was one of the BIG hauls. I was out of all kinds of things, and I got several things mainly because my husband's young adult nephew is coming for a short visit next weekend, and I doubt he wants to eat quinoa and veggies every night. I'm not buying meat for him, but other things that I no longer eat, like nice pasta and pizza and bread suited to be made into garlic toast. Potato chips. Carbs. Whatever he doesn't eat my husband can have. He eats carbs.
I also had to buy two pillows, because my Sweetie took the "guest pillows" to his work apartment.
I got enough groceries that I got a "gift", which was a promotional box of things like liquid soap, tooth brush, tooth paste, etc. It looked like something you might give as a gift to a kid who just moved out. A housewarming kind of thing. We tend not to use liquid hand soap etc. so it seemed like the perfect thing to donate to the food bank.
I noticed that the food bank collection box in the store was moved to an obscure area, and I actually had to go out of my way to find it to donate. I mentioned to Customer Service that it seemed very inconvenient, and would likely result in fewer donations being made. I asked if that could be passed along to the management that it's former location directly by the exit made much more sense. Why would the store WANT it to be difficult to donate?
Then I came home and put it all away. There was an astonishingly beautiful sunset for the drive home.
Today I learned that the most expensive photograph, was by Man Ray and taken in 1924 of famous muse Kiki de Montparnasse.
"An original print of Le Violon d'Ingres set a new record for the most expensive photograph when it sold for $12,400,000, on 14 May 2022, at Christie's New York.[7"'
