Today I am grateful for:

I slept reasonably well.

We had a bit of rain last night, and that made it less dusty outside.

I had a decent phone conversation with Trainwreck sister, she was in an o.k. mood.

The contractors were working today, but are taking the weekend off (as they have been doing all along), so I am really hoping to get a good night's sleep.

The nephew went back home today, via airplane. My Sweetie took him to the airport in the early evening. I really enjoyed having him here, and it was good to get to know him.

I went to see River, and did my best to stay out of the barn because K had a lesson again. Another new student.

R says for Fridays, she has me scheduled for 5 pm to 7 pm now on Fridays, and this should work. If K is upset that I'm somehow invading his space, then I can refer to the schedule and say this is when I am SUPPOSED to be here.

River is still shifting around instead of staying still in the halt, and I am doing my best to be clear in my cues and to give him time to relax when he does halt, as a reward. He did well on our other groundwork.

Then I was able to take him into the barn and tack up (K's lesson was over), and I rode in the arena (outdoor was too wet) while R was working. It was nice to chat with her.

Then the woman we visited the other day was there, and we did some work outside with the obstacles, in a very relaxed way. River was pretty content. He did well with the obstacles under saddle.

Then I came home and let everyone out for a while. My Sweetie was back by then. He brought some "day after your birthday" flowers.

We watched a sweet comedy called "Guilt Trip".

I learned that "An article published in 2009 by Timothy L. Stinson considered the possibilities of tracing the origin of medieval parchment manuscripts and codices through DNA analysis. The methodology would employ polymerase chain reaction to replicate a small DNA sample to a size sufficiently large for testing. A 2006 study had revealed the genetic signature of several Greek manuscripts to have "goat-related sequences". It might be possible to use these techniques to determine whether related library materials were made from genetically related animals (perhaps from the same herd).[26]

In 2020, it was reported that the species of several of the animals used to provide parchment for the Dead Sea Scrolls could be identified, and the relationship between skins obtained from the same animal inferred.[27] The breakthrough was made possible by the use of whole genome sequencing."
