Today I am grateful for:

More gorgeous fall weather. The trees are starting to turn color now. I love this time of year, because the bugs are mostly gone, and this is usually the best temperatures.

I did get a good night's sleep, and it was wonderful. Isn't it nice not to feel like an angry zombie all day?

My Sweetie and I took the trailer full of garbage, mostly from the work being done in the basement, to the dump.

I had the presence of mind to also take the recycling with us, since they do have recycling bins there.

We went to the park down the road, and walked with Roxy for a while.

Then he packed up and left for his work apartment, and I had a nice nap.

Yes, a nap, even though I had a good night's sleep. Mmmmm.

I did some small organizing type things, took a look in my upstairs "wardrobe" room and tossed some very old lotions and such, and saw that a bottle of bubble bath had tipped over on the floor and leaked, so I cleaned that up.

Today I learned that male mosquitoes drink nectar exclusively, and female mosquitoes drink nectar too, and blood that is necessary for laying the eggs.

It is amazing how much trash accumulates when there's hometime going on.

I took a look at some basement once again (which is less congested than it once was) and was struck by the knowledge that there are people who are comforted by bits and pieces of garbage from the past. It is not the past, but to them it is symbolic of it and that's enough.

I can get attached to things too, because of nostalgia. Not usually if it is ruined in some way, but things like a dress that doesn't fit but I love still, or cards people have given me over the years.

If it was a bag of moldy socks, or boxes of pickle jars, not so much.

The stuff we took to the dump was almost purely construction waste, like tiny unusable pieces of wood and drywall, a bit of insulation, and branches. Not our personal garbage.

There are small pieces of wood here that are kept for small future projects, measuring purposes, shims, and reasons I haven't a clue about.

I throw my detritus out immediately and I don't keep rusty nails.

Our used nails and screws go into old paint cans to be taken in whenever we have enough scrap metal to matter.

We do have wood for shims and small projects stored too. The stuff we took was straight up garbage.

We have already taken small pieces of wood that is untreated to the shed to be burned at some point.

I'm not the kind to save scraps anymore, though I used to do so - even old wrapping paper for Advent gifts or small leftovers from knitting projects.

We put pieces of the last refrigerator out on the lawn, and scrap metal scavengers took everything.

I don't much like saving bits of things anymore. I hit my limit.

A good nights sleep is such a wonderful thing!

Life is barely worth living without sleep.

Yep, sleep is the BEST! Because of raising kiddos and work, it's only been recently that I've managed enough sleep. I'm surprised to learn that I need 8 full hours of sleep.

The last few weeks have been hard. The contractors were doing work that is not possible to sleep through, and I was getting four or less hours a night of good sleep.

I usually need and get seven to eight hours, and I do great on that.
