Sep. 18th, 2022 11:26 pmToday I am grateful for:
Sunshine and gentle warmth.
SLEEEEPPPP!
Tomorrow the contractors will return, so I am enjoying the peace while I can.
The person from the bank had actually emailed me this past Friday, so I talked to my husband about setting up a time to consult with this person (about moving some stocks from the U.S. to Canada, or selling them likely and moving the money here). I then emailed the bank person back, and hopefully things will begin to move on this item.
I went to see River, and I noticed that the box of painted rocks was nearly empty, as were the bracelets that remained. I am not too sure who bought them all so quickly. R (the barn owner) apparently bought a few, which is kind of funny because she is the one fostering the rescue horse that I am raising money to help.
That said, that is a very fast clearance of those items! I can't recall how many there were, but with the rocks and the remaining bracelets sold, it should have been another $50 or so.
I worked with River as best as I could. There was a lot of new sand added to the indoor arena and the outdoor arena, and it was very soft and very deep, as well as wet. Not great footing. It will take a while for it to settle.
He is still shifting at the halt any time I am not using the rail to help him stand still. I am still being very patient with him, and praising him a lot in the halt when it is correct, and letting him have a break when he does so.
I rode him with just the neck rope and he is doing much better with making nice circles with it, and starting to do lateral movement.
I did a bit of lateral work also with the bitless bridle for support.
I came home and let everyone out for a while, then I had another glorious nap with the kitties.
I learned that in the wake of the Mississippi Burning murders, the FBI, having no leads or informants, enlisted the help of mafia enforcer Gregory Scarpa. His kidnap and 'interrogation' of a local suspect provided the information the DOJ needed to prosecute within days.

Date: 2022-09-21 01:59 am (UTC)Then they were using a saw to cut lumber, and an air nailer to build the walls for the rooms down stairs. That is loud too.
Recently the work is less invasive, since they are mudding and taping drywall. THAT I can sleep through.
