Jun. 15th, 2019 01:36 amMy mare seems more comfortable. The vet came out yesterday, and said she had an abscess in that hoof from the weather going from very dry to very wet (in the dryness, cracks form in the sole. Then, rapid wetness causes the sole to absorb water, swell up, and trap bacteria in a now moist environment). I've been soaking her hoof in an Epsom salt/iodide solution and keeping it covered with a special poultice-infused bandage. I changed the bandage today and you could tell that the abscess was draining, because the bandage stunk.
She was very patient with everything.
A good ride on River.
Getting some groceries.
Coming home and napping for awhile.
A bit more rain. I am VERY grateful for the rain.
