Today I am grateful for:

More beautiful weather.

Good update with the contractors.

I went to town for pottery, and to Winner's just for recreation. I found a very cute sweater in a bright green.

I caught a pair of the other potters before they went home. One of the women especially is hilarious, and quick-witted. We have fun banter. The other woman is also funny, and I suspect she is having a tough time these days. Her husband needs to be on oxygen a lot, and they may need to move to an easier to maintain home soon (they live on a big acreage with lots of mowing and yard work).

Everyone else in my "class" seems to head home at about 6 pm, which always strikes me as odd because the original time slot for our class is 7-9 pm. I generally get there around five or six, and usually everyone is either gone or packing up. I would love to come in at around 3 pm, but my life doesn't usually work that way.

The reclaimed clay is still too wet to really be good for throwing. I managed another bowl, but after several attempts. I trimmed the bowl from last week, though I am surprised it didn't dry out more.

On the way to get groceries afterwards, I got stopped at a police checkpoint doing random breath tests for alcohol, which I wasn't worried about. Somewhat unconstitutional, but they wouldn't be doing it if it weren't a problem.

They had the whole street blocked, and as I was leaving, there was an ambulance coming from the opposite direction, and the only route to the hospital is...you guessed it. The police road block. I hope they were able to get through quickly.

Getting groceries went smoothly. It wasn't a huge trip, but I bought a little more than I NEEDED to try to offset the cycle of every third or fourth trip needing to be monstrous.

I did get a coat of paint on the bathroom walls last night, and I need to do the second coat tonight.

Today I learned that there are some side effects of oil extraction that I hadn't considered. 1) is that when oil is extracted, the void left behind usually fills with water. That contributes to the lowering of the water table. (This is a simple fact).

2) The water that fills those voids does not insulate the way that the oil would. Meaning that heat from the Earth's core will move differently through those layers, and possibly contribute to warming the atmosphere.

This is a new concept for me, haven't heard this argument before, and I can't personally vouch for it. It is food for thought, though.
