Oct. 12th, 2022 12:11 amToday I am grateful for:
The weather is still decent.
I had a phone conversation with Mom, and that was nice. She actually remembered that the family got together for Thanksgiving. Not sure if she''ll remember it in a week, but it's nice that she remembers it today.
I pulled a few beets, to clean up and freeze soon. I changed the cat litter and swept up around the box.
I went to see River, and that went well. I think I managed to stay out of the way in the barn.
We worked on the obstacles, and again, I did my best to not over train. We did work with just the neck rope, and our Liberty pattern on the ground. I felt like he did well today.
We did a few tries at loading into the trailer where we just got the front feet in. Lots of treats for non-dramatic efforts.
I came home and didn't do much. I'm resting up, knowing that very soon there will be work going on with the windows, and I doubt I will be able to sleep through some of that.
The contractors were not here today, they have been dealing with removing the stump of a tree that is blocking their septic system. It sounds like they have been having a terrible time with it.
I had a nice nap.
Today I learned about the tiny island of Bavljenac. It's area is 0,14km² in size, and there are no houses or inhabitants. The island is farmed by people who live elsewhere.
Bavljenac is part of the archipelago of islands off of the coast of Croatia.
What makes Bavlienac interesting, is that it is so heavily covered with stone walls that from above, it almost looks like a maze or a finger print. The dry stone walls, built with no mortar, were put there to protect the trees and gardens from strong winds, and to mark property lines.
Really, it looks very cool.
