Today I am grateful for:

Still very nice, warm weather.

I was able to mostly sleep through the contractors today, as they replaced two more windows in the sun room (lots of windows in that room, seriously). They can come and go through a door that doesn't interfere with me in my bedroom. Soon though, they will be moving on to windows where it won't be so easy. This is when I will insist on the styrofoam insert being put in the day before, so that they don't need access early in the day.

Feeling a little weird about the huge amount of money we've spent on work on the house; I have to keep telling myself that we were planning to use it on the house from the beginning. Our normal money for savings is still coming out of new income in the form of deductions. Breathe.

I had a good phone conversation with Trainwreck sister today. She seemed in good spirits, mostly. I think all the recent family interactions have been good for her, and maybe she is feeling better about things with Mom being in the care home, and our sister N (whom Trainwreck was helping out) has been doing better since her knee surgery.

She IS really concerned about our Aunt and Uncle (Mom's brother) who are having a lot of issues with mental clarity and some health issues. Pretty normal for their age. Me and Sister S are telling Trainwreck to relax, as Aunt and Uncle have four very involved daughters.

She is likely right that they probably should look at at least being in the Senior's Residence in town (sort of assisted living, but not Personal Care), but that is more up to their own kids to decide, even though we all worry about them too.

I went to town for pottery, and also met with someone from buy and sell first, to buy another horse blanket. I am hoping it fits the mares at home.

Pottery was nice. It was mostly myself and the one other woman who stays later. She is the one that was kind of...awkward last week. This week at least, things stayed fun and light.

I did throw a few things, not sure if I like them or not, but I tried.

I worked on surface decoration on a bowl I threw a few weeks ago.

I made an effort to start clean up early, before I decorated the bowl (which doesn't make much mess), so that I wasn't rushing at the end.

I got to the store on time to get groceries, and as always, and especially in the light of how difficult it becomes the older you get, I am grateful to have the ability to do so, and the financial means.

I came home, and messed around with the acrylic pouring again, and this time got something reasonably nice. I also used some of the left over paint to do some rocks, which look pretty good.

Today I learned that airplanes take off and land into the wind. They takeoff into the wind to reduce the ground speed required to lift and land into it to reduce ground speed when landing.

On some level, I know I've heard the importance of wind direction mentioned in movies and so on, and this makes total sense, but I didn't "know" this with clarity.

When you say "into the wind", you mean "against the wind", or "with the wind"?

After a couple of unexpected expenses at the palais, I am very prickly about spending money without good reason. (I had very good material-purchase therapy at the church jumble sale.)
