Sunday, October 23
Oct. 24th, 2022 01:56 amToday I am grateful for:
Okay weather. Cloudy and cool, but still decent for October.
For feeling better about things today. I got better sleep, and the day ahead doesn't feel as pressured as yesterday.
My Sweetie used the whacker to cut down some saplings along the fence.
He was talking to the contractor, who says he and his wife are feeling a lot better. My husband told them to take an extra day or two off, to hopefully make sure they won't be contagious. I sure don't need to get whatever awful flu (or Covid) has been going around.
We agreed to go look at a "catio" being offered for sale on Marketplace. You know, a screened in space that you can link up to a window or door and let the cats outside and yet have them enclosed.
We went in to town to do this, and it looked well made in person, so we bought it. I really hope we can get this set up and such, as I have wanted one for the kitties for a long time. We kept saying we would build one, but never have the time.
We picked up some groceries to make the trip to town worthwhile, and then hopefully I won't need to get them tomorrow after pottery class. I am very grateful for groceries.
From there we went to the riding barn. The Sunday rider was there, and we all chatted a lot. She had washed her horse, and it was going to take a long time for her to be dry enough to go back outside (cold by then, after the sun went down).
I worked with River in the indoor arena, and all of a sudden it really felt like a turn in the season, working indoors with it dark outside and cooler.
River was feeling good, and again, had no problem picking up the trot and having energy. We did groundwork over some poles, and he did really well on an exercise I thought he might have trouble doing.
I rode with just the neck rope, and it was a little tougher today because he was trotting really large today (feeling better with the colder temperatures), but at the same time I am glad he's feeling good.
We came home and watched a pretty old movie, a romantic comedy called "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past". It was pretty funny in places.
I learned that the currently largest pearl is about 34 kg. That is right, kilograms. You have to think about how big the clam would have to be to have a pearl that large in it. Apparently the giant clams, like the one this pearl came from, can weigh as much as 400 kg. Dang.
