What a difference sleep makes. Today I felt like a human being again. No contractors until Tuesday.
I talked for a while with Sister S, the one who had a kidney removed. She's feeling really, really tired. It is too bad that she is not interested in any kind of physical exercise at all (and hasn't tried for years and years), because she seems to THINK it would not help her to start trying to improve her stamina. Just because she is older, does not mean it can't be improved with effort. I know of lots of people her age that are still physically active. I'm sure it isn't EASY, but you can't stop, either.
Right now, she is doing a whole lot of sitting on the couch.
I went to see River, and that was nice.
There were storm clouds building when I got there, and it got windy, but it didn't amount to anything.
I did see the Sunday rider, but she had gotten there early today and was already putting everything away when I showed up. Still, nice to see her.
We worked by ourselves in the indoor arena, and he was a little worried about the wind at first, but relaxed once we were working on our ground work and Liberty work. He did well with everything today.
I did ride for a while with the neck rope, and the saddle (not using stirrups). He did well with that, and we are getting better at doing side passes and turning on the hind quarters.
Today I learned about the "Raine's Sandwich" in New York. In trying to shut down "alcohol-only" establishments, laws were passed (the excise law of 1896, which restricted how and when drinks could be served in New York State. The so-called Raines Law) requiring that alcohol be served with food. So, the Raine's Sandwich was a gross old sandwich that was brought out with drinks, then taken back and sent out with the next round. Served until no one could stand to look at it.
