Nov. 10th, 2022 12:31 amToday I am grateful for:
Sunshine, even if it was cold.
The contractor barely had anything to complain/worry about today (almost every day, he comes to me with "concerns", from things like I have the furnace turned up too high or too low, or something like that). Often he has a valid point, but he makes it all sound SO SCARY, until you talk with him and then my husband scoffs and says "it's fine".
I threw another blanket on Wonder, because it is supposed to be COLD again tonight, and her current one is a little light.
I managed to get to town today, partly just for the mental relief. I haven't been to town for about ten days now.
Normally I would have my riding lesson today, but R is working with him, and she wanted to do it much earlier in the day before the temperature dropped, and I wasn't going to be able to make it. So I went to town instead.
I picked up more paint for the bedroom, and ended up just deciding to go with the same color as what's in the bathroom after all. I still have some paint from that, and might as well make my life just a hair simpler. It will look good, too.
I got more cash to pay the contractor's wife.
I picked up the mail, and there were ribbons from the last virtual show. The one where I rode with just the neck rope and did a Liberty pattern at the shoulder.
I took a box of books to the thrift store, and bought mostly some sweat pants for pottery class (not precious, but clean and no holes unlike the sweat pants I wear at home to paint and do chores).
I got some groceries. A more moderate haul than last time. Nice to get that done, and I am ever grateful for all of the abilities, financial, physical, and time to get them.
I came home and put everything away, and had a nice nap. I really piled on the fuzzy blankets to achieve thermal meltdown, and it felt great.
Today I learned that while Elvis Presley recorded over 600 songs, he never wrote one of them himself.

It's good to keep the continuity of colour running throughout your house. It doesn't matter what the colour is, as long as it is repeated through the rooms. Repeating a colour avoids that "paint box" look.

Date: 2022-11-10 09:03 pm (UTC)Kind of crazy that he ended up getting them all flown in etc.
Yet, apparently Johnny Depp did something similar with a bottle of wine that he thought would go well with the meal he was eating at that moment.
He typically spends about $30,000 a month on wine, though you think about Elvis blowing more than twice that on a sandwich party, and it all seems pretty surreal.
I bought sweat pants at the thrift shop yesterday for $8 a pair.

Date: 2022-11-11 04:06 am (UTC)Johnny Depp was one of my favorite actors back in the day. Yes, he was gorgeous, but he also had some real acting ability. His work in "Benny and Joon" and "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" was SO GOOD. He even did a really good job of more recent work too, such as "The Rum Diary" and "Black Mass".
I think he is just kind of lost as far as how to be himself.

Date: 2022-11-10 06:08 pm (UTC)I can imagine that y'all rarely travel b/c of the animals, but if you ever do..... I'm down here in Elvis-land and would love to have you visit and show you the city!

Date: 2022-11-10 08:54 pm (UTC)I do go see River, and that is about 20 minutes away.
When my Sweetie is home, we go to the city together, which is a little over an hour North of us. Usually we go there every two weeks when he is home, but not always. It is a good-sized city.
No, we really don't travel much. This is true of anyone with lots of animals. If we do anything, it is one of us goes somewhere and leaves the other to care for the animals.
The issue with that for us, is that my husband is only home for short stretches of time (four days every two weeks).
Sometimes he can take a few weeks off, but you can't ever count on that.
Thank you for your offer! That does sound like it would be a lot of fun!
As for the colors, I am leaning towards a light cream color in the bathroom and bedroom. It is warm without being strong.
In our first house, I did a lot of rooms in different, stronger colors, and that was okay but it was easy to tire of those colors.
I also ended up having part gallons of paint to store from every room in the house. I would rather not have that this time.
