Today I am grateful for:

Lovely weather again today. Slightly above zero.

Today I woke up, and I could see the contractor putting a ladder up against the kitchen window. That window is a little to one side of our bedroom door so it doesn't look RIGHT into the bedroom, but if I could see the ladder, that means the contractor could maybe see into the bedroom if he climbed the ladder. Or, more likely, I would normally walk out into the kitchen half awake to go through it to the bathroom.

By luck, and luck only, I wore tights and a shirt to bed, otherwise I would have had to dive to close the door and not risk being seen.

Not the best way to wake up.

I made a point of talking to the contractor later. I didn't get angry or unreasonable, because I am pretty sure that he was just not thinking. I said "in the future, if you are going to be working on the windows, even from the outside, you have to tell me. Otherwise I have no way of knowing what you are doing".

He seemed pretty uncomfortable about it, and I didn't push him more after that. I think he just didn't really think about it. But really, he should tell me when they are working on ANY of the windows and looking in, because I am an adult and I am not always fully clothed in my house. I could walk out to sit in front of the computer half naked, not realizing that they were working on a window in THAT room.

Normally I would assume they were in the basement.

Anyhow. We moved on from that, and talked about the inside frames for the windows.

My husband is pretty sure we have to stop working on the house this week once the downstairs bedroom is finished, but he wants the contractor to make one window frame inside, so that we can estimate the cost. We can revisit that work this spring.

I went to see River, and that was nice. He was fairly distracted for a while, and we worked through that. He did well on riding with just the neck rope, but he gets really confused when I try to do a side pass or shoulder yield, so I think I will have to go back and work on that more with the bridle.

The lesson that was supposed to happen at 6 pm cancelled because they hit a deer (everyone but the deer is fine), so I didn't have to rush.

I talked with R before I rode, and she said we made $340 at the paint night, and that was after taking out $5 per person to help me cover my expenses (I spent a lot on paint and canvases. Five dollars per person doesn't cover it all, but I am okay with that).

I don't have to paint anything tonight, so YAY!

Today I learned about Berea college in Kentucky, which has free tuition for students, though all of the students work as well. They are able to offer this in part from an endowment that helps to cover the operating costs of the campus.
