Nov. 21st, 2022 11:36 pmToday I am grateful for:
Very nice weather again today. Right at zero mostly.
A lower pressure start to the day again, which is nice.
My Sweetie and I bought these discs for sledding, which are like the ones from "Lampoon's Christmas". We tried them out today, and they are FAST! He is taking them with him to work, to see if he can convince some of the people from work to go sledding. He took some of our crazy carpets, too.
From the park where we sledded (slid?) he went to work, and I went to town for pottery.
The two ladies I generally see there were there tonight, and the one lady stayed with me most of the evening.
It was nice to be social and chatty with her.
I worked on decorating some items, and I wanted to make them more interesting. I experimented a bit, and I think they might look good when they are fired.
I did get a bit more groceries, hoping to find that one kind of cat food. No luck with that yet.
Today I learned that organized cheerleading began in the 1870s as an all-male activity. Women weren't permitted to participate in cheerleading until 1923, with newspapers and manuals still referring to cheerleaders as "chap", "fellow", or "man" at the time.
Women cheerleaders were overlooked until the 1940s when collegiate men were drafted for World War II, creating the opportunity for more women to make their way onto sporting event sidelines.
