Nov. 24th, 2022 11:27 pmToday I am grateful for:
More beautiful weather.
A good night's sleep.
I didn't have to go anywhere pressing today.
I called my Sister E. We talked mostly about the video I posted, and that led to an extensive discussion about her horses, who need some dental work. We developed a plan for how to talk to the vet to get the best answer, and I emphasized that she needed to be present at any examination they do at the vet clinic, and not just take the horses to the clinic and leave it up to the vet which direction to take.
She needs to be clear on why they want to do certain things (one fairly new vet wanted to pull SEVERAL teeth on her mare, and I thought my sister deserved a damn good explanation for why they would do that), and to make sure they don't do more than they need to do.
Nothing has been done yet, and I told her she deserves time and information before doing anything drastic. She's' got a level head, and it sounds like she was being rail-roaded a bit.
There may be very good reason for the vet wanting to pull several teeth, but if my sister doesn't have enough information, that isn't fair either.
Then I folded and put away some clothes, started another load of laundry, and started examining our sheets to see what was still good, what could be cut up, and what might be okay to donate to the women's shelter.
We have many sets of sheets, likely NORMAL people would just cut up or toss the older sets, but not me. I just buy new ones and keep the old ones for "just in case".
Some of them are intact, but very yellowed. Those are harder to make a decision about, since they are technically usable, but are unappealing, and likely not even wanted at the women's shelter.
I am going to try to brighten some of them up and go from there.
I learned that Andrew Lloyd Webber now has a support dog. He jokes that it is because of how badly "Cats" turned out.
"“‘Cats’ was off-the-scale all wrong,” says Lloyd Webber. “There wasn’t really any understanding of why the music ticked at all. I saw it and I just thought, ‘Oh, God, no.’ It was the first time in my 70-odd years on this planet that I went out and bought a dog. So the one good thing to come out of it is my little Havanese puppy.”
That puppy has been a constant companion of Lloyd Webber’s during lockdown. They have grown so attached that he’s even figured out a way to bring the dog to New York the next time he travels to the city.
“I wrote off and said I needed him with me at all times because I’m emotionally damaged and I must have this therapy dog,” says Lloyd Webber. “The airline wrote back and said, ‘Can you prove that you really need him?’ And I said ‘Yes, just see what Hollywood did to my musical “Cats.”’ Then the approval came back with a note saying, ‘No doctor’s report required.’”
