Dec. 3rd, 2022 12:49 amToday I am grateful for:
My Sweetie being home. It's comforting, with Fatty being sick.
Not much more to say on that front. I talked to a different vet at the same clinic (I've worked with him before) and he was a little more clear for me. We really are doing about all we can for Fatty, so at least I can feel like I am doing the best for him. We are going to try an appetite drug.
I've continued feeding him pureed food with a syringe, which is awful for both of us, but it is something.
The other kitties have been pretty cuddly. Maybe they're aware of the situation.
My husband worked with the hauler our friends hired to finally get the sea can sold and out of our yard! The snow complicated things, but for our grass it was better that the ground was frozen. Then the tires don't tear up the ground.
It is weird to see the big empty space where it was.
It was still pretty cold today, though if you dress for it, not too awful. No wind at least.
We did go see River, and he was pretty concerned because the other horses were getting hay and he could hear chores being done while we were trying to work.
We still did well with our ground work (a little too cold to ride), though he was like a school kid looking out the window the whole time.
I was a little annoyed with a comment K made (that is R's husband, who was doing the chores). He was kind of joking, kind of trying to be helpful, but he literally said that I should try getting to the barn earlier so that River wouldn't miss supper.
That hit me funny, because I am under the impression that my ride times were scheduled times given by R so that there weren't too many people using the arena at one time, and so that I would not overlap with K's lessons. I am not really aware that I COULD just come whenever I felt like it. I certainly haven't been given that impression.
Yes, I have noticed that the feeding is often done right about the time I ride, though usually there is plenty of hay left when I turn him out.
So, what was that all about? Who knows. I guess I could ASK if I can ride earlier in the day, though my sleep schedule makes that tough (by the time I do chores etc. it is just about right to make it for my current ride time).
Anyhow, it was a pretty night, with a bright (not full) moon and a huge ring of ice crystals around it.
We came home and my Sweetie had a bath while I napped and hung out with the kitties. I didn't do much else.
Today I learned that the pyramids in Egypt were a popular tourist destination. For Romans two thousand years ago. The pyramids were already about two thousand years old THEN, and considered exotic and mysterious, and one of the wonders of the world.
From Wikipedia: Egypt was the most popular area for tourists to travel to. The Romans viewed Egypt as exotic, mysterious, and ancient. Egyptian locals fed misinformation to the Romans to draw them in and profit from them.[9] Alexandria and the Pyramids were the most popular sites in Egypt.[11] Alexandria's most popular attractions were the Serapeum, the Musaeum, and the Pharos. Tourists would also visit the Bull of Apis in Memphis and the cities of Thebes and Luxor.[11] It was a tradition for Roman aristocrats and emperors to sail across the Nile since Julius Caesar sailed across the Nile with Cleopatra.[12]

Date: 2022-12-12 06:24 am (UTC)It was also SO EASY for my husband just to keep putting stuff in there, and never thinking about it again. That is such a dangerous trap.
