Today I am grateful for:

My sweetie got to meet his friend for breakfast. They talked house-building stuff, and did some man-shopping which was at some Man Store, and he got a yard light or something. I'm glad he's got a friend to do this kind of running around with, and they can do it in the morning together too, before either of their wives are looking for them.

The vet's diagnosis of River was kind of vague, maybe heaves, maybe allergies. She gave me some drugs that he needs twice a day, and my sweetie and I decided to bring him home for this, because we simply can't go to the barn twice a day for the next two weeks. No loss for the barn owner, as we paid for June already, just money in her pocket as River won't be eating her hay.

I'm grateful we have a truck and horse trailer, that my sweetie is a good, safe driver, and River loaded fine (he was a little suspicious, and hadn't been in a trailer for almost four years, but he was fine all said and done). He gets to be in the little goat pasture, away from the mares in case he is contagious somehow. He was pretty nervous for the first couple of hours, more the "freeze" nervous than the running around nervous, and then he relaxed. He gets a grazing mask for a while, because he wasn't on nice thick grass, and you don't want him to get too much.

Kind of stressful for me; for some reason trailering a horse always worries me. A lot can go wrong, even though my horses have all been trailered and so on. I'm grateful it went well.

There are now a few horses with breathing issues at the riding barn, and vets haven't come up with any real answers (I'll be honest, there are a ton of situations with animal health where the vets just kind of shrug and try something to see if it'll work, and lots of vague diagnosis, and sometimes no answers). Everyone is really frustrated, and it's starting to wear on people. We also had this kind of thing go through the barn about two years ago. The vet says that she's seeing a ton of it right now.

I'm grateful we could bring him home, and that he'll have a nice pasture here, that there wasn't too much drama with the mares or goats, or River, and for my sweetie's help and support in these matters.
