Today I am grateful for:

Getting done what needed to be done outside today. It was the kind of cold that you could really feel it on your face (the only part of me that wasn't covered in several layers).

I did not go see River today, but R says he got to come into the barn for a while to warm up and have his mash. It makes me very grateful he is at this barn now. Care like this NEVER happened at the other barn.

I did talk with Trainwreck (as noted in my other post).

Then I talked with Sister S for a while, and she was caring about my feelings, but it was she who reminded me of all of Trainwreck's options and refusal of help from family.

My Sweetie got home tonight. He was supposed to be done work this upcoming Thursday, but the job site decided to shut down early because of the cold weather.

He pretty much went straight to bed, but he had a long day and a long drive today.

Other than that, I really didn't do much. Some light cleaning stuff.

I learned that Chickadees brains actually grow each winter, and shrink in summer, due to the need in the winter to recall hidden food.

"The brains of chickadees grow in the late summer and early fall. At this time of year the birds cache food, usually seeds, throughout their home range. Come winter, they need to be able to find what they’ve stashed. The growing part of the brain is the hippocampus, which plays an important role in spatial memory."
