Dec. 23rd, 2022 03:26 amToday I am grateful for:
Today was bright and sunny, which felt cheerful even though it was very cold.
How nice it is to have help (my Sweetie) doing chores.
That the goats seem to be okay with being in the garage. I have been doing my best to let them have a fair bit of time to walk around in the garage to stretch their legs and give them a mental break. I hate having to bring them into the pen for so long, but when it is this cold they cannot manage outside.
We went to the city today, mainly for pure enjoyment, which has not happened in a very long time. Most of our trips for months and months have included trips to Home Depot or similar stores, getting materials, doing comparison shopping, etc.
First we went to the art gallery. We didn't have a lot of time before it closed, but we had seen some of it last time, so this time we went to an exhibit that featured scents, and their ties to places. It was interesting. Different, anyhow.
My husband did donate blood today (something that means a lot to him), but the rest of it was just a fun day. Kind of our Christmas.
I did some browsing/shopping while he went to donate blood, and I got some CDs (I know, dead technology, but ironically it was mainly newer artists), a cute scarf, a book.
Then we tracked down some books by James S.A. Corey, "The Expanse" series. I watched the television series and really enjoyed it, but I wondered how much better the books would be. It felt like there would be so much more character inner dialogue and so on that the books would do a better job of showing.
I feel like my husband would like these books too. He's big into Science Fiction.
Then we had a nice meal at a vegetarian place. Very tasty, and somewhere new for us.
Then we came home and watched "Trading Places", which was pretty good. I had never seen it.
I learned that "Night of the Living Dead" created the mythology that Zombies eat brains in 1985.
"According to all available evidence, O'Bannon's script for The Return of the Living Dead was the first pop culture instance of zombies eating brains."
