Dec. 31st, 2022 01:53 amToday I am grateful for:
Mild weather today. Last night it was foggy, and when that happens in the winter, you get that beautiful frost on the trees. It was so pretty today.
My Sweetie and I went to the city today. It was kind of to see if we could find a nice sweater for him. Well, we looked in four different stores (and all separate stores that required driving), and he didn't like anything. Sigh. This is why I can't buy him clothes. Oh well.
He did find a bath robe on clearance, and a thermal shirt. I guess that will have to be good enough.
We went to the big aquarium supply store for a filter/pump for the turtle tank. I TOOK MY TIME there today because it is so nice there. So many nicely decorated display tanks. I enjoy it.
We went to the giant bead store, which had a big sale going on. They always do this time of year pre-inventory.
Briefly went to a thrift store, found some books and DVDs, and a silver (?) neck collar that upon closer inspection might really be something hand made; it looks hand-engraved and has someone's hand made mark on it, whether or not it is silver.
We went to the Asian food mart for fun things to eat (the only place I have found vegetarian "jerky") and fresh veggies. That huge grocery run I made allowed us to have over a week at home without needing to go grocery shopping.
We grabbed a wrap that was tasty.
We came home and I talked with Trainwreck again. She stuck to non-trauma today. I think she's just super lonely out there in her ghost town, and she hasn't felt good enough to drive anywhere for a few days.
We watched another classic movie from our very deep archive: Night Shift. It was Micheal Keaton's first big role, Ron Howard's first film as director, and Henry Winkler's first movie after Happy Days (he did do other films before the series). It also starred Shelley Long (Cheers) and both Kevin Kostner and Shannon Doherty had non-speaking roles where you barely saw them.
Today I learned about roving bridges that were designed to allow a horse that is towing a barge to cross over the canal to the other side without being unhitched from the barge. I thought the Macclesfield Canal roving bridge was especially beautiful.

Date: 2022-12-31 10:13 pm (UTC)Trainwreck used to visit with out niece more, but that niece has social issues and often cuts people out of her life for small reasons, as she seems to now have done with Trainwreck.
She does also visit with Sister L.
I think that mostly, there is a void since she lost her partner two years ago, that can't really be filled with a visit once or twice a week with someone.
