Jan. 11th, 2023 01:51 amToday I am grateful for:
Lovely weather still.
I managed to give the goats their second dose of Ivermectin without too much drama. Hopefully this takes care of the skin irritation (mites are suspected). I have not seen Sacha (the goat most affected) itching much since the first dose.
I noticed that before their first dose, they were shaking their heads too, and if there are/were mites, they can irritate the ears. Since the treatment I have not noticed them doing this.
I went to see River, and K had a lesson already in progress when I got there, which is not supposed to be happening. The parents of the student asked to change the time for today, hopefully not often.
What is good, is that it looks like R is going to be able to stand up to K a bit on this. She told me to go ahead and ride in the arena with this student because K should not have allowed them to infringe on time set aside for others to ride (R included, she needs "open times" to train her horses). I think she was mad at him for doing this.
So, I did go right ahead and work in the arena with K and his student (gasp!). It isn't as good for me, since I have to stay mindful of the student and stay out of her way, and it is a very small space.
Then they left, and R and I worked.
River did well today, and I worked hard on ME, so that I was clear about what I wanted, that I rewarded his efforts quickly, and didn't overdo anything. I think we left on a good note today.
Then I was even IN THE BARN WHEN THE NEXT STUDENT ARRIVED, and K didn't freak out. I was being respectful of their space, as I always am, and maybe it helped that this was a mature woman who was not needing to be babysat by K, and SHE chose to engage in conversation with me.
Then I came home, dyed just the front bit of my hair (I seem to only be silver in a tiny spot at the front, but it makes me look a lot more grey when I pull my hair back because that's all you see is that spot). I'm trying to only dye that little bit, and the tiny bit at my temples because the rest of my hair seems fine, and dying it has been very damaging.
Then I read. I am almost done the first "Witcher" novel and I am enjoying it.
I learned that parasites can help convict poachers. When endangered animals are seized, the location the animal came from can be determined by the parasites the animal has. Different regions of the world have different parasites. Parasites in animals can identify their source. This helps secure convictions for poachers.
For example, a trader in exotic animals might claim that said animals were born in captivity, but the parasites can show that they were caught in the wild.
