Jan. 18th, 2023 01:41 amToday I am grateful for:
Gentle temperatures.
I had a phone conversation with Trainwreck. She went to visit her adult children and got "accidentally storm-stayed" there for a few days (anyone who goes to visit people at the cusp of a storm warning WANTS to be storm-stayed, and she likely did "plan, not-plan" for that outcome).
I think they would have been fine having her there either way.
The woman who "had no money" took all of her kids out for supper while she was there. Sigh.
She also feels that "not feeding her cats for three or four days" is fine. Not that she would ever do that. Right? She left out lots of food. Right?
I went to see River, and he had a cut right below his right eye. Kind of puts a damper on things. I did work with him a tiny bit, not much. K came out to the barn to teach a lesson (and did not freak out at me today) and had a look at it.
We cleaned it out, he isn't tearing up or squinting so his actual eye seems okay. We put some stuff on it, and they are going to check again in the morning to make sure it isn't swelling or anything. Sigh.
I came home, and messed around to get some music from a CD onto the computer so I could put it on my phone. I love having music for being in the arena, but I've been listening to the same things for a while now. Time to change it up a bit.
I came home and in my evening call with my Sweetie, we talked about exactly what kind of doinkery is going on at his work place, and I got to be all pissed off for him and it was in a way nice for the sake of solidarity.
I think if I were a Mom, I'd be the kind to go beat up the other kids and the teachers for my kid. I feel like doing that for my Sweetie. I'm all like "SCREW THOSE GUYS".
So, it actually pulled me out of my funk to get all riled up for my Sweetie.
Then I painted for a while.
I learned about SubTropolis, a giant former limestone mine under Kansas City that is now converted into the world’s largest underground business complex. The 1,100-acre complex is accessed through tunnels, and as of 2015, 1,600 people work there. There are places that value the constant 68 degree temperature like specialized food processors, and there are many storage areas for temperature and light sensitive things like film.
