Jan. 23rd, 2023 11:22 pmToday I am grateful for:
Good weather still, and noticing the longer days.
A brief phone conversation with my Mom. She seemed cheerful. I'm getting the feeling that mostly she is under the impression that there is a meal soon, so she waits in the main room a lot. I guess that's what happens when your sense of time is gone.
I went to town today for pottery class, and that was fun. There were people there tonight, the one lady who is so much fun was there.
We worked on sculpture together, making women with a layered skirt. There was a great deal of hilarity over trying to get the breasts right.
So here are some pictures of it, I am hoping that the braids make it, they can dry at different rates from the body (I tried to make sure it was touching the body to help it dry evenly) and might crack. Anyhow, whether or not it survives being fired, it looked nice.

I would like to do something about the smooth spot on her "bun" still, I wish I had added braiding to it as well. We'll see.
Then I got groceries, and I am grateful to be able to do so. Nice that I got there a little earlier than usual, so no pressure to be done before the store closed.
Then I came home and put it all away and had something to eat.
I learned about the Pau Brazil tree, which is the official tree of Brazil. It is now very rare, but produces very hard wood (the premier wood to make bows for stringed instruments), a beautiful red dye from it's heartwood, and might have medicinal applications.

Date: 2023-01-25 04:56 am (UTC)She is a bit mermaid-like, probably the giant bust. The other woman I was working with thought she looked like a dancer.
No name so far.
