Jan. 28th, 2023 01:20 amToday I am grateful for:
Though colder, not terribly today.
We went to see River, and that went well. River was much more focused today, and most of our work was done without much repetition, as I am doing my best to reward a good, clean result by not doing it over and over.
He did well on our homework from the lesson, which was better response to the hind end yield, and to my more subtle request with my body (not the whip).
His bow is coming along.
We managed to complete the gate obstacle, kinda rough still but we did it.
We did ridden work with a lighter, softer neck rope and it worked out pretty well (the stiff one made out of an old lariat gives firmer cues, the softer one made out of rope is more subtle).
We talked with R, and at least it looks like Earl had an abscess on his head from a bite, likely from another cat (strays come around). The swelling that we noticed yesterday actually burst today, just before the vet examination R had scheduled (and it was NOT for putting him down, it was an exam because of the swelling).
So, it got properly cleaned up by the vet, and hopefully he will be feeling better soon.
I feel relieved.
Then we came home and watched "The Lost City" which was more or less a remake of "Romancing the Stone", but it was fun in it's own way too.
I learned that for all his immense skill and popularity, Bruce Springsteen has not had a number one hit on the billboard charts in the United States.
