Feb. 3rd, 2023 12:10 amToday I am grateful for:
Slightly warmer, but the wind was still pretty icy today.
I didn't have to go anywhere today, and I slept like a rock last night.
The marvel of having these animals in my life.
I didn't do much today. My normal chores, some laundry.
I had a fairly lengthy conversation with my Sister E. This is the sister who has an acreage and animals, and her husband is having a lot of health issues. They put an offer on a house in town, and if they get it, they would be selling the acreage this spring.
She plans to board the horses with a friend of hers.
With her husband's health issues, I''m not sure why they want to get a house with a big yard that would still require a lot of maintenance (I thought they would get a condo in the city), and it is still in a small town over an hour away from the bigger city where their son lives, the Mother in Law, and many of the doctor appointments. They end up driving to this city two or three times a week.
I guess it's a transition from country life to still somewhat country life, to live in a small town with a little less yard work. At least if you live in town it is easier to hire people to clear snow and they won't have to haul their own garbage to the dump, etc.
Anyhow, it's still in the works, but she sounds confident about the bid. It IS time for them to move, her husband is in pretty rough shape, and if nothing else this move will help them downsize.
Then I spent a fair bit of time trying to patch some jeans of my husband's. I'm having a heck of a time because the material has lycra in it, and the fronts of the legs are all stretched and baggy. I am having trouble making the large patch work over the bagginess.
Today I learned that Vietnam's role as an enormous producer of coffee is almost entirely because of the East German Coffee Crises of the 1970's, and their subsequent huge investment in a few countries to increase coffee supply.
