Today I am grateful for:

More beautiful weather.

Getting Brownie's (goat) feet trimmed. It takes two people to do that; one to hold her, the other to do the trimming.

We went into the city today, and it is kind of an early Valentine's for us, since my Sweetie will be back at work for the actual day.

We managed to get to the art gallery in decent time, which is nice. The gallery on the main floor had a display of the newer acquisitions, and they were nice. We've seen many of them since we come to the gallery often, but still nice.

There is an art sales and rental office in the basement of the building (still all finished very nicely), and generally you have to call the museum and make an appointment and on and on.

We've never bothered to do so, because we are never really sure when we can get in to the gallery, and it seems like a lot of fuss, and we're not really sure if we're going to buy anything (even though they have some really reasonable works; it's mostly local artists).

Anyhow, we went to the basement mostly to see a small gallery of art that is also down there, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out that a person that we have always made a point of talking to when we came to the gallery (he worked in the gift shop, and we always made a point of stopping in to say hi to him and chat about the exhibits, etc.) NOW WORKS IN THE RENTAL/SALES AREA!!! He happened to be there when we were looking in the little gallery, and we were able to get in to the area where the sales/display works are stored on those pull-out thingies!

It was nice to see him (we hadn't seen him the last time or two that we've been, and wondered what became of him), and it was really interesting to look at the work on commission by mostly local artists. A lot of it is REALLY good, and it is not really unthinkable that we might buy something from there. It is not outrageously priced at all.

That whole interaction was a fun surprise!

I am also assuming that our acquaintance might make a commission for sales, so that is something to keep in mind if we do choose to buy something, is to make sure it is through him.

Then we went to an art supply place. I got some things on a very good sale (some clearance items). We also found out that likely for YEARS we could have been getting a discount on art supplies at a few places in town because of being members at the art gallery. Go figure. This is the first I had ever heard of this (the person at the gallery told us).

Then we had supper at a nice little Thai place that we hadn't been to before. It was quite good. Kind of a Mom and Pop "Prairie Asian" feel to it. Lots of vegan/vegetarian options, but I probably ended up eating too many carbs in a "wrap" that was more like a bun.

Then we stopped in at the used book store and found a few things.

One of those things was a silly horror movies spoof, a bit along the lines of "Scream" called "You Must Be The Killer". You guessed it, it is about camp counselors, where one guy figures out that HE must be the killer; the unwilling puppet of an evil mask.

It was fun.

I learned about how Chewang Norphel, an engineer, found a way to create small artificial glaciers to hold water for spring irrigation downstream.
