Feb. 20th, 2023 11:51 pmToday I am grateful for:
Staying positive through the extra chores that come with anticipating a cold snap. I needed to add blankets to the mares and move the goats into the garage (that means taking hay over there, and filling their water buckets from the house, and luring them into the garage when they don't really want to go in there).
I talked with Sister E, and she and her husband have begun the arduous task of packing (and deciding what to take with them) as they are planning to move from their acreage to town.
They haven't sold their acreage yet, so they are trying to clean it up well enough for pictures and at some point, viewings.
All at the same time, Sister E's mother in law recently moved to a care facility and they were working on clearing out her apartment. A family of recent immigrants (suggested by a friend of Sister E's) were able to use almost everything from the apartment, and have been moving it out. My sister isn't even looking to get any money, just to see it used. I thought that was a marvelous solution for everyone.
I went to town for pottery, and that was nice. I spent most of the evening doing decorative underglaze on a vase. One bowl my husband threw (that I trimmed and glazed for him) came back, and is truly lovely.
My "once dog walking and riding barn friend", that is now in our class, was there. I enjoy her overall, but I forgot a trait of hers that is less than pleasant; she is an "authority" on many things, and you often feel like your own viewpoint is not valued if it is different from hers.
I will say that she likely does have a great deal of knowledge and experience about some things, but at the same time, even an expert could be more open to other views and experiences. I don't know that anyone should be completely assured that their view is the best/only way to see something.
I was able to get groceries afterwards, and I am very grateful to be able to buy food and to have the means to get it home and put away. I was grateful for the fun exchange I had with the check out persons.
I have to say, pretty much every day I am fully aware of how much my animals bring to my life, and how much I value them.
I learned that apples originated in Kazakhstan.
