Mar. 1st, 2023 01:18 amToday I am grateful for:
A little surprised that it is still fairly cold (forecast was for warmer than this), but manageable.
A good phone conversation with Sister E mostly about her and her husband packing and trying to clean up to show their house.
I went to see River, and I appreciate having the riding barn as a place to go, get out of the house, and often engage with other human beings as well as animals.
I worked with Phoenix for a few minutes, and that was nice. He's a little "on top of you" so we worked on him maintaining some space and not coming into you unless you ask.
Then I worked with River, and it was a little funny how he was so calm and chill as we worked in the middle of the arena while R and her horse were spazzing out on the rail. Arrow can be hot.
At the same time, I think R must have been bringing her own energy into the sessions, as she did a little work with Phoenix next, and he was really hot with her too (after he was fine when I worked with him).
River did well, we did groundwork/liberty as well as ridden work as best we could while R was working with her maniacs.
I feel like our session was appropriate in duration and I stayed "light" with my asks and attitude.
I came home and didn't do much, had a nap.
I learned that Captain America co-creator Jack Kirby was drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII, landing at Omaha Beach in Normandy. When a lieutenant found out he was a comics artist, he made Kirby a scout who would advance into towns and draw reconnaissance maps and pictures, an extremely dangerous duty.
