Sunday, March 12
Mar. 13th, 2023 12:42 amToday I am grateful for:
Nicer weather. At some point we could have an actual Spring.... I know it isn't REALLY Spring until the end of April, but one can hope for at least a not horrible rest of March.
We tried the blanket we bought yesterday on Hollywood, and it is too big. The sizes were a little different. The blankets I have at home for the older mares are a size 76, and the blankets I liked had a sizing system that went from a 75 right to a 78, and I didn't know if a 75 would work...anyhow. I hope we can exchange it, and I hope a 75 will fit.
We spent a bit of time grooming the mares. They are starting to shed.
Then we trimmed Sasha's (goat) feet a little more. We did them about a month ago, but I felt like they were uneven.
Then we went to see River, and it was a nice day for it. It was still light out the whole time we were there, which is SO nice.
I put a few new songs on my phone, some fun disco stuff. I use music in my sessions with River, and it is a lot more fun. I am trying to use music to help me keep my energy higher and more positive. We need to MOVE more.
I made a conscious effort to do more running in my groundwork with River, because I need to increase my endurance for these Liberty classes. They are involving more and more trotting, and in Liberty you are running right with them.
I feel like we did well today, and I kept the mood good and not overly critical.
The Sunday rider was there and we chatted in passing as she went into the arena about when we were finishing up.
We decided to watch a goofy movie tonight: "Land of the Lost" with Will Farrell in it. Yes, it was just plain goofy, and yet pretty enjoyable.
I learned about the oldest known wild bird, a female Layson Albatross named Wisdom, who was banded in 1956 (estimated hatching was in 1951) and has been monitored by the United States Geological Survey. She has had her tag (band?) replaced several times.
She was still able to produce young as of 2021.
