Today I am grateful for:

That Roxy is happy to eat her pills if I just add them to some wet cat food. That right there makes this so much more feasible. I HATE having to force pills into an animal. It makes me feel like a monster.

She did poop today. I was a little concerned that the sedatives might slow down her bowels.

She seems to be putting weight on her leg, though we are keeping her calm and encouraging her to lie down a lot.

That we were able to go to the city. We did take Roxy with us, and she was reasonably comfortable lying down in the entire back of the car (the seats lie down to make a cargo space).

We went to the animal supply place to pick up supplies. I got Roxy a soft neck ring that is not as encumbering as the traditional cone. She isn't licking herself as much as I thought, so it might not get used that much. Still, good to have it.

I got some items for dressing the incision site, though again, if she doesn't bother them I might not need to.

A proper bed for her, since she spends a lot of time on one side. I hope she uses it. I've bought her other beds, and the cats keep stealing them. I am going to try to keep this one "hers".

Then we met with a person who was selling seasons of "House" for dirt cheap. I needed the last three seasons, so I will have some duplicates. Those I will donate or trade in. I am happy that I can watch the whole series, I want to follow the story arc.

Then as we were going to eat, I popped in to a store that sold mostly vintage jewelry that was going out of business. I have been in that store a few times, and while the items are often very interesting (think higher end costume jewelry, silver and semi precious stones like amethyst, trade beads and amber, and nice glass beads) I thought it was greatly over priced. She might have a nice costume piece that she priced at forty dollars that wasn't really special that I could see.

Anyhow, I think she is retiring and everything was on 50% off mostly. I found a nice necklace that I thought was STILL a bit pricey for what it was, but I do like it. Many of the items at HALF PRICE were sort of where I thought was a fair price, but I still felt like some of the run of the mill costume jewelry was overpriced even on sale. Thrift stores are full of nice costume jewelry for a couple of dollars per item.

Then we ate, and it was good. The music was kind of obnoxious dance music, and too loud. I don't know if that was a bid to seem "trendy" or "young", but rarely do I want music like that playing while I'm out having a nice meal.

We went to the used book store, then to the regular book store (specifically to find a book in a series that we were never going to find used).

Then we came home and watched "The Vampire's Apprentice" which was okay, but it felt like it was all creating a story that was meant to be carried forward into another movie that never got made. So it felt incomplete.

I learned that Lake Poopo completely dried up after the water level in Lake Titicaca could no longer support feeding into Poopo.

Personally, I just want to know who is naming these lakes.

I'm doing Ancestry research, and all the ancestral Dutch denizen names are astonishingly self-deprecating - chosen to mock then-government, I'm told.

That's what the denizen told me. Some of the names really are awful - or funny.
